Ishan Akhouri: The Hunger Games Book Review

The Hunger Games is an action book. The books author is a woman named Suzanne Collins. She has made other books like Catching Fire, Mocking Jay, and the Gregor Series. The Hunger Games was published in 2008.
In The Hunger Games, a lot of things happen. Every year, 2 tributes from each district gets picked to compete in a murder/killing tournament. Only one person, the winner would be able to get out of there alive. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are the tributes for District 12. The book describes violent actions, which makes it a bit bad for younger age people to read.
I liked the way that Ms. Collins describes things in the book. She would not just say “He picked up the book.” She would say “he calmly picked up the after dropping it in the water puddle.” I also liked the commentary by Katniss, she would make everything easy to understand unlike Jim Hawkins in Treasure Island, who uses sea-terms like “scallywagger” or something like that.
What I liked the least about the book is the names of the people. Thresh, Cato, Rue, Prim, and Peeta just sounds really weird. Gale sounds normal, and so does Brutus, though. I also did not like that the book is filled with blood and gore.
I recommend this book to someone at least twelve years old and above. A ten year old maybe would be impressed by the description A twelve or thirteen year old would be able to take it and not make it a really big deal. Overall, I rate this book a 8/10.
