“Do you ever notice elements of nature reflected in people?
Like the hue of turquoise sky glossing his diamond-framed eyes
Or the trill of a songbird at 2am in your best friend’s laugh
Maybe in the patter of raindrops against a wooden windowsill in the way your grandmother clinks the edges of her cup as she sips her tea
How about the hovering breeze in your sister’s frolicking past bedtime
Or an illuminating street lamp in the expression of a mother viewing her first ultrasound
The pearly radiation of moonlight in a philosopher’s somber visage
And the frothy layers of tides in an old storyteller’s voice
Maybe now you notice all these things
And maybe becoming what you surround yourself with isn’t a bad thing at all…”
